MISSION
The Alaska Air Force Association has a two-fold mission.
1) To educates the public about the role our local Air Force Bases (Elmendorf AFB and Eilson AFB) play in the defense of our nation and support of our communities, and
2) Provide benefits from our community to our active duty, guard, reserve, veterans and their familiies.
ORGANIZATION
The Air Force Association (AFA) is an independent, nonprofit, civilian education organization promoting public understanding of aerospace power and the pivotal role it plays in the security of the nation. AFA publishes Air Force Magazine, conducts national symposia and disseminates information through outreach programs. It sponsors professional development seminars and recognize excellences in the education and aerospace fields through national awards programs. AFA presents scholarships and grants to Air Force active duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve members and their dependents; and awards educator grants to promote science and math education at the elementary and secondary school level. Additionally, AFA publishes a wide range of materials on www.afa.org.
AFA is led by volunteer leaders with our state organization consisting of more than 1200 members who hold elections and conduct programs to increase public understanding of key issues in our communities. Programs range from luncheon and dinner activities to symposia and legislative roundtables with Congressional leaders.
